Coffey Labs
@coffeylabs
Open-source mail, VPN, logs and a website builder you run yourself. Donations pay for the servers.
Popis
Coffey Labs LLC builds open-source infrastructure that's meant to be run, not rented. It's one person, John Coffey, with no team. Everything is AGPL or GPL with no paid tier, no enterprise edition and nothing for sale, so donations are what pay for the servers.
What you'd be funding
- inbuxa: a complete mail system you run yourself, with server, webmail and admin installed together.
- ihasmail: immutable webmail over JMAP.
- ihasvpn: a WireGuard server and its console in one container.
- HotDog CMS: a website builder.
- Cairn OBS: log aggregation for Kubernetes, still in development.
Where the money goes
Three servers and a load balancer, about $235 a month. They host the git repositories and CI, every website and docs site, the community forum, a Mastodon server and the demos. Development tools add $200 a month, and with domains and certificates the whole thing comes to about $5,500 a year. None of it goes to salaries. The whole bill is at coffeylabs.org/support.
What it doesn't buy
A feature, a priority lane, or a say in the roadmap or the license. If your donation is public, you get a thank-you by name on the support page. Coffey Labs LLC is a company, not a charity, so donations aren't tax-deductible.
